It was a perfect night for a party, with temperatures in the low 70s, plenty of stars and lots of moonlight. And hundreds of people took advantage of the evening Saturday to go downtown to enjoy good food and great music.
It was the opening night of the Final Stretch Music Festival, sponsored by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.
Musicians entertained revelers at seven different locations, from the City Center and Caroline Street to Ben and Jerry’s.
For much of the evening more than a dozen Harley Davidson motorcycles lined the street in front of Uncommon Grounds. Chris McCormack of Galway was on one of those motorcycles. “We try to spend every summer night we can in Saratoga,” she said. The group of motorcyclists, she said, includes riders from across the capital region.

Daniel Miller of Poughkeepsie said he enjoyed dancing to the music of “Solid Smoke,” a tribute band playing in the Post Office parking lot. Miller had spent the day at the track with his daughter, Alison Duran Salgado, who came to Saratoga to celebrate her birthday. Miller said that at 82, he was the oldest dancer on Broadway. Talking about the sounds of Solid Smoke, he said, “It’s really funky!”
The entertainment continues Sunday night as downtown Saratoga bids farewell to the 2012 track season.
